Type C Bearded Axe

Type C  bearded axe

Historically constructed using two pieces of iron for the main body and beard of the axe, with a piece of 80CrV2 carbon steel laminated into the cutting edge.

The handle is also historically constructed using the same techniques to those used during the Viking Age. It is split from an ash log and shaped to follow the natural grain and fibres of the wood, creating the strongest possible handle for the axe. The handle is lightly charred and coated with a traditional mixture of pine tar and linseed oil to protect the wood from the elements.
